Pierre Joulié worked with Maison Latour (see below) for years before deciding to step out on his own to specialize in making only 3 wines, which are the two presented here plus a Mâcon-Villages. The basic idea is to blend across appellations to consistently create inexpensive yet good quality burgundies in volume. Because of the catch-all nature of these two appellations, particularly for the Côte de Beaune-Villages, Joulié believes he can consistently deliver on his goal of marrying quality and quantity at an attractive price.
