- (from a bottle with <3 inches of ullage that was completely original). According to several sources, this was the first excellent vintage of the century and it certainly shows here because even though the color was bricked through to the center, this was a positively ethereal wine of incredible complexity and while there was certainly some sous bois in evidence, it by no means dominated the nose. Rich, full, sweet and vibrant medium full flavors offer superb depth and that mouth coating, sweet and wonderfully persistent quality that defines old burgundy at its finest.
