Maipe Torrontés 2012

Member Review by shawkes:

Very pale in color, pleasant aroma, aroma of green apple detected, nice and appealing bouquet. Crisp white wine style. Medium acidity, not complex, light body, slightly off balance, average length. Good introduction wine. Drinkable, basic, everyday type wine. Great for parties and picnics. $9.99

Nice floral, pineapple, and guava on the nose. The pallet shows nice acid and creamyness, guava, candied vanilla (not oaky vanilla). Pretty darn good if you like torrontes.

A light crisp white. Floral aromas leap from the glass. This one’s bursting with tropical fruits: mango pineapple and papaya. Nice acidity to balance out the dry finish. Enjoy chilled maybe with grilled chicken or fish.

Torrontés is the most distinctive of all Argentine wines because Argentina is the only country to produce it. This wine is delightfully light and crisp with a surprising complexity. Starting with a beautiful floral nose the wine evolves in the glass with essences of tropical fruit. You’ll detect a note of pineapple with a touch of sweetness on a lengthy finish. Serve with chicken or fish.

The 2008 Torrontes exhibits a fragrant, floral, honey-accented perfume followed by a medium-bodied dry wine with a smooth texture and ripe flavors. Drink it over the next 12-18 months.

First of all, what is Torrontés? It is a native South American grape varietal that produces a fresh and aromatic white wine. Flavors of white peach, melon, and apricot form a very likable wine to serve on its own or with light or spicy dishes.

Perfume and floral aromas on the nose lead to flavors of apricots and peaches. This is a fuller bodied wine, with mild acidity that retains softness. Plush and fruity, but with crisp mineral flavors in the aftertaste to create a wonderfully balanced wine.

Plump and juicy, with fresh nectarine skin, peach and clementine flavors, backed by a hint of spice on the finish. Drink now.
