Maipe Torrontés 2010

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Perfume and floral aromas on the nose lead to flavors of apricots and peaches. This is a fuller bodied wine, with mild acidity that retains softness. Plush and fruity, but with crisp mineral flavors in the aftertaste to create a wonderfully balanced wine.

The 2008 Torrontes exhibits a fragrant, floral, honey-accented perfume followed by a medium-bodied dry wine with a smooth texture and ripe flavors. Drink it over the next 12-18 months.

Torrontés is the most distinctive of all Argentine wines, because Argentina is the only country to produce it. This wine is delightfully light and crisp, with a surprising complexity. Starting with a beautiful floral nose, the wine evolves in the glass with essences of tropical fruit. You'll detect a note of pineapple with a touch of sweetness on a lengthy finish. Serve with chicken or fish.

Plump and juicy, with fresh nectarine skin, peach and clementine flavors, backed by a hint of spice on the finish. Drink now.

First of all, what is Torrontés? It is a native South American grape varietal that produces a fresh and aromatic white wine. Flavors of white peach, melon, and apricot form a very likable wine to serve on its own or with light or spicy dishes.
