Winemakers Notes

Tasting Notes: The Malbec is a glass coating purple color with a strinking perfume of violets, black cherry and black raspberry. Exchibiting suprising complexity for its price category, the wine has gobs of fruit, savory flavors and excellent depth and length. It is and outstanding value for drinking over the next 3-4 years.

Beautiful purple bleeding out to a red rim in the glass the wine visually shouts "body" and it does have it. Here we get a wonderful blend of blackberries, plums, "gaminess" and hints of spice greeting the noise while it delivers black fruits, pepper, smooth tannins and a fine acidity slowly tapering off into a lovely finish.

On initially opening this Malbec was tart on the nose. After a couple of hours the tartness was gone, replaced by hints of blueberries. Good medium body with some spiciness on the finish when paired with spicy, sweet teriyaki.

an underrated wine, methinks, velvety, smooth like 'butta' on the midpalate, very fruit forward, quite quaffable for those hesitant on the 'darker side' of the malbecs

Let this wine breathe before ever attempting to drink it!!!! I didn't do this at first, and it smelled just like urine!!!!! Anyway, after which, dark fruit with an "edge" on the nose, very oaky and with a rather twangy finish. For $10, won't buy again.

This is simply my favorite Malbec. I purchased my first bottle of 2008 Maipe in 2010. I've been collecting and drinking it since. I highly recommend this wine. I give it 10 minutes or so to breathe before drinking. After a few hours, it is spectacular.

Not sure just how much I like this wine. We had it on Christmas and too many bottle blurred by to be sure I know what this felt like. But there are more in the cellar so I will find out for certain.

I remember dark rich berries but beyond that I need another bottle.

This wine has very deep, rich, and pleasant dark fruit, almost a plum-boysenberry flavor, and it comes by it honestly, not a fruit bomb. Fruit is well-developed, however, the other elements needed to achieve complexity are a bit faint. Would pair quite well at a party with dishes of steak and similar. Nose of dark sour fruit with hints of earth and leather, dried leaves and musk. Smooth round and well-integrated on the attack, a bit watery mid-palate, action is toward the front of the mouth, with mild fuzzy tannins and medium acidity along with deep rich earthy fruit (plum, blackberry, and boysenberry) and a hint of vegetal. Finishes rather quickly with sour fruit and vegetal.
