Argentina delivers once again on value. A nice rich, well structured Cab. Cassis, coffee, vanilla, and spice dominate. The oak is significant and comes close to dominating the other flavors. It could use a touch more acidity for my taste but all in all is still a great wine (especially for $15 bucks!)

I really like this Argentinean CS! This has a very deep color to it. The nose is delicious, containing plum, fig and other fruits. There is a rich mouthfeel with many complex flvors including spice, plum and oak.

The 2009 Maipe Cabernet has a dark purple color and ripe berry aroma with minty accents. On the palate, this wine delivers plenty of fresh fruit and a youthful green edge that softens a bit with aeration. Though it has a prominent oak component, verging on too much for my taste, this wine is structured and lively enough that you should be able to tolerate the long, oaky finish.

A ripe, flashy style, with lots of fig sauce, fruitcake and melted licorice notes that cruise through the dense, fleshy finish. Drink now.

Similar in style [to the Reserve Malbec], but more structured and revealing slightly more oak is the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. Full-bodied and dense with abundant notes of creme de cassis, chocolate, espresso roast, spice box, and tobacco leaf, it is a layered, succulent, hedonistic Cabernet to drink over the next 3-4 years.

One of my favorite value Cabernets, the Maipe is classic Napa style at a value South American price. Velvety texture unmarred by harsh tannins, with a lingering, smoky finish.
