Smooth, polished, generous and wide-open in texture, with gorgeous plum and blueberry fruit getting added nuances from hints of Indian spices. The finish lingers effortlessly. Drink now through 2016.
As thick as blueberry pie, this big-shouldered syrah has plenty of chewy oak and plummy fruit. For all its exuberance, a mineral through line keeps the wine on track. Serve with sausages off the grill.
Before he founded his K Vintners winery in 2001, Charles Smith was managing Scandinavian rock bands out of Copenhagen. Since then he's been a whirlwind of winemaking and smart marketing - who else puts skulls and a "kung fu girl" on their labels? Magnificent Wine Company is Smith's second label - he sold the brand a few years ago but is still winemaker. Sourced from various Columbia Valley vineyards, this is 100 percent Syrah.
