Coming from the Blue Mountains of Walla Walla in Washington, this red blend delighted us as soon as we tried it. Made from Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc, the House Wine has brambly spice, licorice, and blackberries, with supple tannins and a velvet texture on the finish. The perfect red for grilled meats and strong cheeses.
Charles Smith looks a bit like a rock star and he also makes stellar wines for his own ldquo;Krdquo; label. He took time out from that project to form the Magnificent Wine Company and make this affordable red-blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a lot of dark fruit on the nose and in the mouth, but it also has structure and a certain earthiness to reign in some of that ripeness. It tastes great now, but I think it will actually improve over the next two or three years.
