Editorial Reviews for MacMurray Ranch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Sweet and darkly spicy with a candied blackberry tone and a hint of black pepper over slightly weedy and slightly wood sweetened fruit. Quite acidic in the mouth with a small ball of sweet, dark cherry fruit framed by a ton of acid, that leads to a woody finish with astringent tannins and a metallic tone. 83pts
User Reviews for MacMurray Ranch Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Add your reviewDark and rich in the glass. Expressively perfumed with aromas of crushed cherry along with strawberry and currant. More swirling gives way to an earthniess and toasty oak influence. Very pretty fruit. Lush on the palate with vivid acidity and red and blackberry fruit. Raspberry, bramble fruit, pomegranate and some light spice in the way of herbs and osky spice. Some cinnamon and even suggestions of clove. Very tasty and richly textured. Dry finish.

On the nose I found aromas of pepper, road tar and just a slight hint of a mineral whiff. This Pinot Noir is ready right now and was very drinkable with a nice amount of acidity and tannins and a slender bit of oak and strawberries. Not a deeply complex wine but I found it very enjoyable.
This wine feels like cherries bursting in your mouth with every sip. I tried several California pinot noir wines recently and this one got my attention right out of the bottle. I ran right out and bought more.
I fell in love with the 2003 and it remains a sumptuous easy drinking pinot for a bargain price. I see usually it's $22, but I found it for $14. Delishhhhh.

The other Pinots include the tart, sweet and sour cherry, pomegranate, mossy, austere 2008 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast. Prices are very fair, and these Pinots should be drunk in their first 3-4 years of life.
From the former ranch of Hollywood star Fred MacMurray comes this lovely Pinot Noir, showing terrific intensity with plush, mouthcoating red-berry fruit ripeness. A very good value in California Pinot Noir.
Kind of unripe and thin, with tobacco, beet and herb flavors, although a touch of black cherry helps. The texture is smooth, but the finish is a little watery.
Tangy and vibrant, with cinnamon-tinged black cherry, currant and pomegranate flavors. Mineral tones, earthiness and tart acidity linger. Drink now through 2008.
The 2004 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast shows some toasty oak intermixed with plum, cherry, and underbrush. It is medium-bodied, soft, and ideal for drinking over the next 2-3 years.
The largest cuvee by far with 42,000 cases made, this will be the one most seen on shelves. It features plenty of sweet-seeming upfront toast and caramel, gradually showing crisper, cherry-driven flavors, until it ends on a citrusy note.
Showing the brisk acidity of this cool coastal appellation, MacMurray's '05 Pinot is bright in red and black cherry, raspberry, cola, licorice, vanilla and smoky oak flavors. The wine isn't an ager, but it's a rich, fairly complex wine to drink now. Easy to find, with 25,000 cases produced.
