M5 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

91 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (43% grenache, 41% syrah, 9% mourvedre, 4% counoise and 3% cinsault): Bright violet color. Fresh blueberry and violet candy on the highly perfumed nose. Fleshy and appealingly sweet, offering intense black and blue fruit flavors that pick up spiciness with air. Emphatically fruity and supple in texture, finishing smooth and long, with just a hint of tannins. (Nov/Dec 2013)

Margerum Wine Company:
We are a small producer of Syrah, a Rhone style blend called M5, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and a few other varietals. Our grapes are purchased from the finest growers in Santa Barbara County. In addition, we are beginning to import a few exceptional wines we have found in our travels to the wine regions of Italy and France.

Light bodied and sweet to taste, surprising you by turning acidic halfway. Great with cheese bunnies.

Marked by a mix of grapey earth, dried berry, sage and dusty, cedary oak flavors, this is trim yet full-bodied, gaining weight and depth. Complex finish. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise and Cinsault. Drink now through 2016. 50 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2008 Margerum Wine Co M 5 750ml

Rich and fruity, spicy, yet with great structure. Defines the vintner's art of blending, comprised of five varieties sourced from a dozen vineyards. Fun and serious at the same time

(48% syrah, 31% grenache, 10% mourvedre, 2% each of counoise and cinsault, and the rest co-fermented lots of all of these varieties) Medium red. Initially shy aromas of raspberry, plum, smoky herbs and flowers. Sweet, ripe and round, with moderate in... Stephen Tanzer's IWC.
