M. Chapoutier St. Joseph les Granits Rouge France Premier 2009
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Even better is the 2009 St.-Joseph Les Granits. Its opaque purple color is followed by notes of powdered rock blueberry and blackberry liqueur ink and graphite. An enormously endowed full-bodied effort with laser-like focus it should drink well for 15+ years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
