Dark and beefy, with a note of game running through the black currant, coffee and tar flavors. This unwinds more on the finish, with a fine mineral thread running through currant and cocoa notes. "From granite soils, the appropriately named 2010 St.-Joseph Les Granits has an opaque purple color and gorgeous, dense notes of sweet black cherries with hints of crushed rock, graphite, pen ink and blackberry liqueur. The granite mineral terroir characteristics come through in this wine, which is full and rich...91-94" WA 12/11 "Vivid purple. An intensely fragrant nose features dark berry preserves, violet, cola and candied licorice. Juicy and perfumed in the mouth, with a velvety touch to the intense blackberry and floral pastille flavors.
