M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Blanc les Granits 2009

External Review by Prestige Wine & Spirits:

Even better and one of the top whites in the appellation (and Northern Rhone for that matter), Chapoutier’s 2012 St.-Joseph Les Granits Blanc boasts a massive bouquet of pit fruits, apricot, honey, liquid minerality and licorice. This flows to a full-bodied, gorgeously textured white that has beautiful purity of fruit, awesome focus and blockbuster length. Enjoy it over the coming decade or more.

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Another blockbuster that savvy readers need to buy up, the 2012 Saint Joseph les Granits Blanc is a drop-dead gorgeous wine that offers up tons of crushed rock-like minerality, stone fruits, white peach and buttered citrus to go with a full-bodied, decadent, yet also elegant and focused style on the palate. Count me a fan, and while it’s a great drink now, it will have an easy 15+ years of evolution.

Very deep garnet red. Aromas of black fruit jam with smoked and mineral overtones.Smoky and peppered notes with tight tannins with a long persistency in mouth.
