M. Chapoutier Hermitage les Greffieux France-Vallee du Rhone-Hermitage Aoc Syrah 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

"Full red. Spicy red berries and cherry on the nose, along with scents of fresh rose, violet and Asian spices. Reminiscent of pinot noir in its precision and red fruit personality, offering sweet floral pastille and succulent herb notes. Very fresh and focused on the finish, which leaves mineral-laced red fruit notes in its wake...94" IWC 01/10

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

Soft and caressing but persistent with stylish mulled currant fig and black cherry notes laced with tobacco and incense. The plush finish is accessible now with a nice rounded feel. Drink now through 2015. -JM Wine Spectator.

The full-bodied 2007 St.-Joseph Les Granits exhibits sweet black currant fruit camphor rock and exotic Asian spice characteristics. With slightly less density and weight than the 2006 it should drink nicely for 10-15 years. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
