M. Chapoutier Hermitage Blanc Chante Alouette 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2010 Ermitage Chante Alouette, which is the largest production cuvee of white Ermitage from Chapoutier (there are several thousand cases of this, in contrast to the other cuvees) is one of his strongest efforts to date. Notes of white flowers, honeysuckle, wet rocks and chalk, as well as quince and white peach, are all present in this deep, full-bodied wine, which has great fruit and a more forward accessibility than the other Ermitages...92-94" WA 12/11 "Lush and inviting, but also invigorating as the tropical papaya and mango notes are enlivened with extra quince and green fig flavors. A yellow apple skin edge and a salted butter note add more length and definition on the finish...95" WS 09/12 "Light greenish-gold. Lively aromas of orchard fruits and white flowers, with a hint of lemon zest adding lift. Fresh and bright but concentrated too, with mineral and floral accents to its pear and melon flavors. Nicely brisk on the back end, finishing spicy, gently sweet and long...90" IWC 04/12

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
