M. Chapoutier Côtes du Roussillon Villages Bila Haut White 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

*90 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate* A blend of 60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Macabeu, 10% Marsanne and 10% Vermentino from limestone and clay soils in the Agly Valley, with a smaller parcel from higher altitude sites for freshness. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel to retain its freshness and minerality. A pale yellow colour with green tints. On the nose lemon and grapefruit notes are framed by a distinct smoky note. The palate has a generous round mouthfeel with an elegant freshness. A mineral-laced finish closes the deal. An excellent aperitif or pair with seared tuna steaks. Enjoy now until 2018. 'Possessing fabulous notes of citrus rind, white flowers and distinct minerality, this beauty hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, bright acidity and a mineral-laced finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. It’s a total steal at 14 bucks. I continue to be blown away by the quality coming from Domaine de la Bila Haut, which is run with the Chapoutier team. They’ve continued to grow these Roussillon releases, and even at the entry-level price point, the quality is stunning.' - 90 Points, erobertparker.com

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.

The 2015 Bila Haut Blanc Cotes du Roussillon is a masterful blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Marsanne and other varieties; it has aged gracefully over the 3 years it has stood in the bottle, evoking rich spicy fig, orange, more spice and orange peel on entry... but measured out perfectly. A steal, but drink up now and buy up the 2016. 88.
