M. Chapoutier Côtes du Roussillon Villages Bila Haut Red 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

*91-93pts - Robert Parker* An equal blend of Grenache and Syrah with 10% Carignan from higher altitude plots in the Agly Valley; here the cooler air helps the grapes to gently ripen. The Gneiss and Schist soils impart a freshness and minerality to the wine which is captured and retained through stainless steel fermentation. A deep garnet red with aromas of black cherry, violets, pepper and herbs. A fleshy, medium-bodied palate with a core of fruit and subtle savoury earthy hints. Enjoy with a mushroom and pancetta risotto or even a good BBQ. Drinking very nicely now but can keep until 2018. "The jaw-dropper in the lineup was the quality of the 2015 Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages les Vignes de Bila Haut. While the entry level wine from this estate, the quality here is incredible, especially at the price point...it offers a rich, concentrated and serious feel to go with fabulously pure notes of blackberries, black raspberries, crushed rock and melted licorice. Thick, unctuous and luxuriously textured, this will certainly be the greatest vintage of this cuvee to date." - *91-93pts - Robert Parker*

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
