M. Chapoutier Cotes du Roussillon Domaine de Bila Haut Occultum Lapide 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

*92-95 pts - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate* Michel Chapoutier’s passion for great terroir took him to the Roussillon where he bought land in the village of Latour de France in 2000. It is here that incredibly old vines with low yields deliver minerality and complexity for Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Domaine de Bila-Haut is farmed biodynamically and organically although it is not yet certified as such. This Syrah, Grenache, Carignan blend has a great dark garnet-red colour with a complex nose of initial hits of leather followed by intense aromas of pepper and black fruits. This wine is rich and dense with deicate tannins and great freshness and would pair perfectly with a nice piece of beef, Mediterranean food and strong cheese. 'The 2014 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem has terrific purity and freshness in its black raspberry, blackberry, pepper and rock-laced bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and fresh, with impressive tension, focus and tannic grip through the finish, it looks to be another superb vintage of this cuvee.' - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

M. Chapoutier:
The name CHAPOUTIER is present in the Rhône Valley since 1808. In 1879, the distant ancestor Polydor CHAPOUTIER was the first to begin to buy vines, thus moving from the status of wine-grower of an estate to that of a viticulturist, a wine producer and a businessman. The pioneering spirit was already present in the family.
