Lynmar Pinot Noir 2006
PinotFile: This is a blend of lots from Lynmar's 47-acre Quail Hill Vineyard as well as grapes from local growers. This wine is a cherry choo-choo. Really attractive cherry aromas with a hint of oak and candied apple lead to a silky core of fresh and bright cherries, an undertone of strawberries and the slightest oak. Soft tannins complete the harmonious picture. For an entry wine, this is stunning. (1/14/09)

This offers up wonderfully ethereal and perfumed aromas of flowers, light red fruit, rhubarb, and lingonberry, with top notes of wood smoke and sandy soil tones. In the mouth this is very light and elegant with bright, transparent red fruit tones backed up with hints of stemminess, and a suggestion of vanilla that floats above the fruit. The sour berry/sour cherry fruit in the mouth shows a lovely nuanced spicy edge over a core of natural sweetness that leads to a long, soft, caressing finish with just a hint of Christmas spice. Really gorgeous pinot that is easy to enjoy. 92pts
Leathery cherry slightly musty nose. High acidity, earthy leather with black cherries and raspberry.
Light red and creamy, medium tannins, cherry and light plum flavors
Bright red cherry aromas with a bit of sugary sweetness. Tart acidity and good tannic structure, medicine and spice.
Strawberries, blueberries, and coconut on the nose, and the mouth is cocoa-buttery, tannic, and has a nice length. Good delicious factor, and interesting.
aromas of varying red fruit and subtle earth. the palate also offers sour cherry, raspberry fruit flavors with an earthinesss intertwined, some red spices on the finish, i enjoyed alot!
Really nice fruit - gorgeous nose. Needed some time to open. I have one more bottle and will try to wait 1-2 years before drinking. Looking forward to see what Bliss Block did in 2007.
Soft bramble and raspberry nose. Soft and smooth with a nice mineral core. Finishes on pine resin, chocolate and raspberry flavors. A touch of fig and mint remains.

It was very rewarding and a joy to craft this vintage of the Quail Hill Pinot Noir because we saw abeautiful wine emerge from a vintage that was so nerve wracking and where potential quality was notso immediately apparent. What we have in this wine is taut highly aromatic expression of our estatevineyard where elegance, balance, and structure are all seamlessly interwoven. While the color is'moderate' versus intensely deep, color has never been what this wine is about. Aroma and perfumeare what sets this wine apart, and those qualities are more pronounced than any recent vintage.There is wonderful purity in the fruit and spice notes with strawberry, currant, red raspberry, andorange pekoe tea complementing the more classic cherry cola, baking spice, and floral characters.Flavors are nicely in line with the aromas and additionally include slight 'pencil shavings' reduction,wet stone mineral notes, and very subtle well integrated toasty oak. The texture here is still youthfullyfirm but with a vibrant energy that clearly tells you its best days are ahead. Tannins are grainy butbalanced and work with the brisk acidity that to yield an exceptionally long, flavorful finish. Likemost of our top 2006's, this wine will be enjoyable upon release but will really benefit from furtherbottle age until at least the spring or fall of 2009, with more complexity developing during cellaringthrough at least 2012.
A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2006 Lynmar Pinot Noir Quail Hill Vineyard 750ml
The color this year is immediately bright and youthful with an attractive violet hue and a translucence that boldly declares this is not another 'over-extracted' Syrah-like Pinot Noir. Aromas begin with an assortment of wonderfully forward red fruits such as pie cherry, strawberry, and cranberry. These upfront fruit characters are accented by complexing notes of baking spice, deeper dark fruits, and orange blossom. There is also a subtle earthiness here that evokes the local coastal forests and the breezes coming in from Pacific.giving this wine a heightened sense of place. On the palate cleansing, 'zippy' acidity results in a taut, yet balanced, structure with flavors that truly linger and draw you back. Always enjoyable upon release, this wine will only get better through fall of 2009, and should continue to reward cellaring through 2012.
