Lustau Sherry Amontillado Rare Solera Reserva Escuadrilla NV

Winemaker's Notes:

"The most intense offering in this group is the dry non-vintage Rare Amontillado Escuadrilla Solera Reserva. There is definitely some serious age on this solera. An amber color is followed by notes of nuts, salty sea breezes, sea weed and dried pit fruits...94" WA 8/12

Off-dry, with a good range of relatively light-bodied notes of date, toasted sesame, walnut bread, caramel and bitters that all linger through the friendly finish. Drink now.

Smoky and resinous, with caramel, roasted walnut and iodine flavors that go on and on. A hint of oxidation and burnt molasses on the finish. Drink now.

An unusual and charming fusion of marine saltiness, sweet apples and caramelized almond aromas, this is tight and firm, with expansive dry plum and green olive flavors, austere and generous at once. The finish smells like the ocean, so much so it’s as if suddenly you were staring at the beach as the sun rises. Open this now with Gorgonzola or save it for your grandchild’s wedding.

Surrounded by a pleasant sensation of sweetness, this wine’s acidity stands firm as the wine moves from coffee and caramel notes into flavors of fruit and earth. It’s easy to drink, delivering complexity along the way.
