Walk through the wrought iron gate and enter another world. Drink in the rustic beauty of olive trees, towering poplars, and leafy oaks that landscape the grounds surrounding our estate's Italianate architecture. Be transported by our spectacular setting to another time, another place while enjoying every moment of the here and now that Luna Vineyards offers. When George Vare and Mike Moone first laid eyes on the Luna property in 1995, they instantly recognized the magic, and the amazing potential, of its estate vineyards. Plus, it was perfectly located along the Silverado Trail. So they bought the property and followed their dream, building a winery that paid tribute to the varietals that set Napa Valley apart. They also planted visionary varietals like Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese, which weren’t then well known in Napa Valley. Read less

terrific. cranberry and sour cherry reductions sauce. the acid here packs quite a punch so unless you can handle some heartburn i do not recommend pairing it with pasta and red sauce, even though it tasted great together. this would make a great thanksgiving wine to pair with cranberry sauce.

This was very impressive. This is Chianti meets Napa. Still acidic but the tannins are more rounded and refined. Tasted at Geneva Festival of the Vines 9/11/2010

Our 2011 Napa Valley Sangiovese is perfumed with aromas of black cherries, raspberries, sandalwood, and a hint of vanilla. Bing cherry dominates the mid-palate, accented by raspberries and hints of sandalwood. The finish begins with appealing minerality notes and finishes with a spice infusion of cocoa bean. - Winery

(the largest single bottling of the winery, now entirely from Napa Valley fruit; just 10% new oak) Medium red. Cherry, redcurrant and floral aromas are complicated by a whiff of soil. Offers good sweetness and breadth to its spicy, bright red fruit flavors. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and a hint of mocha. The fruit is mostly from Game Farm Vineyard in Oakville, which McMahon says features "rocky Tuscan soil." This will be bottled in July. Our 2008 Napa Valley Sangiovese is a deep garnet color. Perfumed aromas of raspberries, black cherries, lilacs, and rose petals come forward on the nose. The Merlot supports a chewy currant core on the mid-palate, accented by chocolate and hints of sandalwood. An interesting mineral note appears on the back of the palate, and firm, silky tannins hold the wine together. The finish is a lush thirty second trail of perfectly ripe, Bing cherries. - WineryBLENDSangiovese 75%Merlot 20%Petite Sirah 5% ** SOLD OUT **

(Includes 4% petite sirah) Good full ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of raspberry, bitter cherry, licorice and rose petal. The palate offers terrific juicy berry intensity with brisk framing acidity; reminded me of a top zinfandel from the days before this variety was routinely overwhelmed by new oak or blurred by overripeness. This sharply delineated fruit bomb finishes with substantial dusty tannins and noteworthy purity, cut and length, showing little sign of its 14.9% alcohol. Drink this now or hold it for three to five years. The sangiovese craze in California has passed, but Lunas example remains consistently excellent-and gently priced. ** Only 4 in Stock **
