Pale yellow gold, rich, slightly tropical aromas of orange and nuts. Fat, smoky and thick, with exotic fruits and marzipan leavened by firm mineral spice. A touch of sweetness (4 grams per liter r.s.) is nicely balanced by sound acidity. Concentrated, almost honeyed pinot grigio with lovely richness and length. this was fermented in barrel with wild yeasts; half of the wine went through malolactic barrel with wild yeasts; half of the wine went through malolactic fermentation.
The 2009 Pinot Grigio is a light golden color. The nose is scented with grapefruit and pear, and on the palate orange fruits come to the forefront. Mango and orange zest are accented by notes of guava and a pronounced minerality. The wonderful acidity and full-bodied texture carry through a delicious lemony finish with hints of apricot. This wine will be at its peak from now through the end of 2012. - Winery
I do not know of a better Pinot Grigio produced in the New World than Lunarsquo;s 1998. Cropped at 3 tons per acre, as opposed to the normal 6ndash;10, this wine tips the scales at a powerful 14.1% alcohol. What makes it terrific is the fact that it was fermented with indigenous yeast, thus giving it more aromatic dimension as well as a creamier mid-palate and finish. This 1998 also possesses a sumptuous nose of orange rinds, lemon butter, honey and nuts. Full-bodied, with a chewy texture and gorgeous fruit, this wine, aged on its lees for 8 months and bottled unfiltered, is a juicy, pleasure-filled Pinot Grigio.
There is not a better Pinot Grigio being produced ion the New World than Lunarsquo;s. The finest they have made to date, the stunning 2001 Pinot Grigio offers aromas and flavors of orange marmalade intermixed with honeysuckle. This fresh, medium to full-bodied effort is an example of a hedonistic dry white at it finest.
Leesy aromas of lemon, honey and hay, with hints of dried fruits. Supple, very ripe and layered, with a flavor of lemon drop. Distinctly fat for Pinot Gris but has complexity and sound supporting acidity. This was fermented in barrel, with little use of SO2.
Remarkably complex and compelling. Ripe and rich, loaded with tiers of fig, roasted almond, spice, vanilla bean, cream and tangy lemon overtones. Excellent viscosity, with tart, lingering quince nuances. Drink now.
