Luna Vineyards Merlot Howell Mountain(2004)

Winemaking - The vineyard is made up of six unique blocks, and all were picked individually and fermented on their own. We allowed a very warm fermentation to extract as much flavor and tannins as possible out of this exceptional vineyard. This technique unites the flavors and textures of the wine at the height of fermentation. After 2 years in 70% new French Oak barrels, the wine was bottled, unfined and unfiltered. Tasting Notes - The wine, like the vineyard itself, shows a wild, exotic side rarely seen in Merlot. The color is a seductive, dark ruby and the nose is filled with the intense aromas of read more...wet leaves and ripe currants. This wine is full-bodied and very round, with loads of soft, velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. Our Howell Mountain Merlot represents the height of what Merlot can be.
