What to Expect

Pinot Grigio is one of the world's most popular wines. Also known under the French moniker "Pinot Gris", and even the German "Ruländer" among others, Pinot Grigio is a chameleon of a grape. It is produced in a range of styles, from the light fruity Italian style that has gained popularity, to a more mineral, flinty rich wine favored by the French - particularly in Alsace - and emulated by many in the new world.

Winemakers Notes

Blend: 95% Pinot Grigio, 5% Chardonnay

Reviews

Secondary malolactic fermentation leading to avery smooth and buttery pinot grigio. Good fruit, with some very nice well integrated oak. Delicious - a pinot grigio for chardonnay lovers

Strong anise start. Tart but smooth with a round finish.

Straw-colored with lemon and the hot whiff of alcohol in the aromas. On the palate, it tastes like smoky lemons, with a bit of toasted almond bitterness underneath. Shows the oak ageing, which overwhelms the usually pleasant crispness of the varietal. Out of balance. Drinks like a chardonnay, not a pinot grigio.

A golden straw color with aromas of fresh figs, honeysuckle, and melon. Creamy texture surrounds flavors of pear, fig, smoke and spices such as cardamom and allspice. The wine finishes dry and long with a persistent touch of lime, ginger, and almond. Aromas of pineapple, minerals, brioche and toasted nuts. Dense and serious for pinot grigio, with good fruit sweetness and cut. Nicely supple and broad but with plenty of flavor intensity to support its alcohol. Finishes firm and persistent. -IWC
