Luna Beberide Vino de la Tierra de Castilla Y León Tierras de Luna 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Tempranillo, 15% Merlot, and 15% Mencia. This innovative bodega operates from its modern facilities on its farm known as El Frances, which is located in the municipality of Cacabelos in the Bierzo region in the extreme northwest of Castilla y León, bordering Galicia. The estate is comprised of 154 acres of vineyards distributed among three properties. Cabernet and Merlot vines are 22-years-old and Mencia are 50-year-old vines, yields range between 25-30 hectoliters/hectare. The vineyard is planted between 2,132 to 2,460 feet above sea level. All of the fruit was hand harvested and cluster sorted at the winery prior to fermentation with native yeasts. The wine was aged for 16 months in 75% French oak and 25% American oak barrels from the finest tonnelieres. After the wines were aged in the barrel, they were fined using egg whites prior to bottling without any type of filtration. <br/><br/>
