I love this Amarone. Unbelievable value. Bright red fruit with subtle hints of oak and rich chocolate. A rich well structured, balanced wine. Give this one about 30mins to an hour and it will really start to shine. A very pleasant introduction to Amarone at a great price.

Tasted this as an alternative to the 2007 Rionda Amarone by the glass pour. I've had several vintages of this Righetti Amarone and the 2007 doesn't measure up. Something about the finish seemed very off. Several others agreed. Having said that it was bigger and richer than the Rionda, which would hardly make a good Ripasso...If you are looking for the Righetti Amarone, you can likely find another vintage in your city. Try 2006 or the new 2008 is actually quite delicious.

The complex nose opens with raisins and prunes, surrounded by wafts of honeysuckle, cedar, coffee, almonds and milk chocolate. The palate launches with astringency on the back dominating the weaker cherry at the center. After an hour, the sharpness fades, allowing the cherry to emerge in brighter, stronger, rounder notes, along with coffee, dark fruit, and crème brulée. Stays open and balanced over at least four hours.

From Larry the Wine Guy: An interesting Amarone. Actually quite bright in color, bright, light, with characteristic Amarone notes finishing from a much fruitier, younger more "berry-ish" background. I had this with some delicious, rich earthy ravioli stuffed with Osso Bucco short rib meat, in a cream mushroom sauce, and it was the perfect foil, the brightness and delightful fruits of this Amarone breaking up, or pleasantly interrupting, the richness of the foods.

Located in Valgatara, right in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone, the Luigi Righetti estate has been a family run winery since 1909. Gian Maria Righetti is the fourth generation in the Righetti family to carry on the wine-making tradition. For this bold Amarone all of the grapes are sourced from their Capitel de Roari Estate vineyard. 60% Corvina, 30% Rondinella and 10% Molinara are dried on straw mats for three months before crushing. After fermentation the wine is aged two years in Slavonian oak casks. Full-bodied with an array of nutty, spicy and tangy aromas and rich earthy, smoky flavors that linger on the finish.

This is Righettis reserve Amarone. The name "Capitel deRoari" is derived from the local way to say "many oaks" and refers to the various plots of vineyards where grapes are obtained for the famous "Capitel deRoari" Amarone Classico. The vineyards, which are situated on the finest hills of the Valpolicella Classico, are well cultivated, limited in production and high in quality. The land, rich in clay and sun, is a key element that encourages concentration of sugar and flavour.
