Food Pairings for Luigi Einaudi Dolcetto di Dogliani "Vigna Tecc"
Dolcetto's are still growing on me as they always have this slight bitterness that I am unfamiliar with. The only Dolcetto I have had that competes with this is the Pecchenino Siri D'Jermu. The Vigna Tecc was a concentrated inky dark magenta color possibly owing to the fact that it is unfiltered? Bitter black cherry on the palate with the classic almond finish. Very soft tannins augment the strong acidic structure of this wine. Once paired with food, this wine really shined.
A traditional, easy to drink wine, which comes from a blend of Dolcetto grapes from the vineyards of the Einaudi estates which surround Dogliani; namely, on the hillsides of Madonna delle Grazie, San Luigi and Santa Lucia.
Of a ruby red colour which tends toward violet, of a rich fresh fruity fragrance, full bodied with an intense aroma of undergrowth and a pleasantly tannic taste with a slight final almond note. Of a dry and moderately acidic taste, with an alcohol content of between 12-13 % Vol., after a year of ageing, it has a good body and full taste, with a final almond note typical of this wine.
