The brick color of this wine indicates that it is mellowing out. Nevertheless, it still has a lot to offer. The nose brings to mind cloves, berries, chocolate, and stewed fruits. It has a ripeness that comes across as slightly sweet, which, combined with the elegant tannins and moderate acidity, gives the wine a very pleasant finish. Big and even brawny (tasted May 2008), this showed more power and tannin than fruit. Very good, with plenty of tannin and currant fruit, but could still use more time to integrate.
