It is a radiant sun, with its corona of twelve flaming rays. Anyone who strolls through the cities of central Italy will have admired it carved into the keystone of an arch, wrought into the decorative iron of a gate, or pressed into a ceramic tile-not to mention on the high altar of Florence's Santo Spirito church, built by Brunelleschi on a piece of property donated by the Frescobaldi family.... It is a radiant sun, with its corona of twelve flaming rays. Anyone who strolls through the cities of central Italy will have admired it carved into the keystone of an arch, wrought into the decorative iron of a gate, or pressed into a ceramic tile-not to mention on the high altar of Florence's Santo Spirito church, built by Brunelleschi on a piece of property donated by the Frescobaldi family. This sun represents the Divine Light, light for mankind. It is a light that gives warmth, that nourishes growing things, and crafts the sinew within wine. Simply pronouncing its name conjures up the power of Sangiovese and of Merlot, which together give birth to Luce, in the generous earth of Montalcino. Read less

refined, subtle, tipical tuscany with mild body. Good on cheeses, prosciutos and perfect with pastas with shick sauces.

I have vintages back to 1999, I love this full body wine. By far one of my favorite Super Tuscan blends. Frescobaldi is a wonder producer and all of their wines are to be tried. Like velvet, this wine is one to hold onto and enjoy for a special occasion.

Dark ruby in color, very intense nose and flavor. Fruit bomb. Dried blueberry and Indian spices are very prominent. Full-bodied, great tannins, finish goes on forever. I love this wine. Suckling gave it until 2015, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to 2025 at least. Not easy to find, because restaurants snap it up (which should tell you something.) And a very dramatic etched label, which gets your guests' attention. If you can get a good price, stock up.

Carpineto was founded in 1967 by Antonio Zaccheo and Giovanni Sacchet and farms 424hectares of land spread over four estates among Tuscany's most prestigious appellations. The wines include: Dogajolo, Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile, Farnito and the Appodiati Single Vineyard Collection, complemented by single grove olive oils. Carpineto has been named IWSC Italian Wine Producer Of The Year in 2003 and was the first ever Italian winery ever to win the IWSC International Winemaker Of The Year Trophy in 1994. Antonio Zaccheo is now aided by his son Antonio and daughter, Francesca who both previously worked in the wine trade in the USA. Giovanni Sacchet's daughter, Caterina, is studying to become a wine maker. The Carpineto wine making style produces wines that are full-bodied, complex and fruity in character, with a round, supple tannin structure and a long, persistent finish.
