Luce Della Vite Toscana 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

A deep, concentrated ruby red. The nose boasts an impressive complex of aromas, opening immediately with intense notes of fresh berryfruit, particularly blackcurrant and raspberry, followed by a hint of smooth vanilla hovering in the background. The palate offers an ultra-appealing crispness complementing its flavours of ripe fruit, dried flowers, and spices edged in smoke. Dense-packed, velvettextured tannins contribute to an impressive structure that gives the wine its solid backbone. A near-endless finish provides a seductive vein of tangy mineral and spice, completing a wine that showcases a marriage of crispness and power.

It is a radiant sun, with its corona of twelve flaming rays. Anyone who strolls through the cities of central Italy will have admired it carved into the keystone of an arch, wrought into the decorative iron of a gate, or pressed into a ceramic tile-not to mention on the high altar of Florence's Santo Spirito church, built by Brunelleschi on a piece of property donated by the Frescobaldi family. This sun represents the Divine Light, light for mankind. It is a light that gives warmth, that nourishes growing things, and crafts the sinew within wine. Simply pronouncing its name conjures up the power of Sangiovese and of Merlot, which together give birth to Luce, in the generous earth of Montalcino. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
