Wine Spectator Review Rated 94 Very pretty aromas of cherry pie, blackberry and spices follow through to a full body, with clean, velvety tannins and a delicious, fruity finish. Turns chewy and powerful. Already hard to resist. Merlot and Sangiovese. Best after 2010. Wine Tasting Notes Luce appears deep ruby with lovely purple highlights. Subtle suggestions of toasty oak appear first on the nose, over fragrant notes of blueberry and blackberry that seem to infuse the background; next to emerge is a complex of floral and mint nuances, followed by smooth impressions of vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is smooth and mouth-filling, with velvety tannins and a warm alcohol beautifully complemented by a crisp acidity. The finish is expansive and dynamic. 60% Merlot and 40% Sangiovese.
Luce Brunello appears ruby red with garnet highlights. Fragrances of wild berry fruit, such as blueberry and redcurrant, predominate on the nose; crisp notes of citrus follow, succeeded in turn by spicier impressions of forest underbrush, tobacco leaf, pencil lead, and black pepper, all lifted by intriguing nuances of star anice and China Calassaja bark. It develops full-bodied and warm in the mouth, with a forceful suite of tannins. This is a wine of incredible concentration and near-endless progression and finish.
