I have vintages back to 1999, I love this full body wine. By far one of my favorite Super Tuscan blends. Frescobaldi is a wonder producer and all of their wines are to be tried. Like velvet, this wine is one to hold onto and enjoy for a special occasion.

Dark ruby in color, very intense nose and flavor. Fruit bomb. Dried blueberry and Indian spices are very prominent. Full-bodied, great tannins, finish goes on forever. I love this wine. Suckling gave it until 2015, but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes to 2025 at least. Not easy to find, because restaurants snap it up (which should tell you something.) And a very dramatic etched label, which gets your guests' attention. If you can get a good price, stock up.

Complex notes of cherry, smoke and developed fruit this wine has developed with grace. Intense in the mouth but not overly tannic or hot, a beutiful acid balance and a long exit. Wish I had more of it.

Carpineto was founded in 1967 by Antonio Zaccheo and Giovanni Sacchet and farms 424hectares of land spread over four estates among Tuscany's most prestigious appellations. The wines include: Dogajolo, Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile, Farnito and the Appodiati Single Vineyard Collection, complemented by single grove olive oils. Carpineto has been named IWSC Italian Wine Producer Of The Year in 2003 and was the first ever Italian winery ever to win the IWSC International Winemaker Of The Year Trophy in 1994. Antonio Zaccheo is now aided by his son Antonio and daughter, Francesca who both previously worked in the wine trade in the USA. Giovanni Sacchet's daughter, Caterina, is studying to become a wine maker. The Carpineto wine making style produces wines that are full-bodied, complex and fruity in character, with a round, supple tannin structure and a long, persistent finish. The D.O.C. and D.O.C.G. wines are "terroir" wines with flavours tr...

The floral violet black cherry earth and spice aromas and flavors are very pure here. Focused and elegant yet forceful balanced and long this shows a touch of mint in the aftertaste.-Non-blind Luce vertical (March 2013). Best from 2018 through 2040. - BS Wine Spectator.

This is clearly the greatest Luce ever. A wine with currants and blueberries with hints of flowers and spices. A full bodied red with with lots of chocolate berry and vanilla character. Chewy. Juicy. Better in 2015 to soften and come together. Fabulous blend of 45% sangiovese and 55% merlot. James Suckling.
