Luca Syrah Laborde Double Select 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Luca Mendoza Laborde Double Select Syrah Deep dark red with violet edges. Firm and full bodied on the nose; the Malbec character comes through with its fruit and balsamic herb complexity. The palate accurately reflects this nose, and displays flavors of plums and fruits of the forest. Tannins are plentiful but extremely elegant. The finish has attractive cherry tastes, typically Veneto in style. 835603001105

A nice whiff of bacon fat greets the nose along with a hint of rubber eraser over attractively peppery blueberry and black plummy fruit. Rather broad and a bit matte in the mouth, this delivers some rich black raspberry and boysenberry flavors in the mouth over a firm base of well-concealed oak along with nice violet and mineral accents. Dry and firm, there are lovely fruit flavors building slowly in the mouth, though this will require a year or three to show its best. The finish is peppery and fairly long, with firm wild black berry fruits that are ripe and dry all leading up to a slightly tannic finale. 89pts

Pretty aromatics include balsam wood, blackberry and blueberry. The palate is lush but well structured, with bullish berry, chocolate and creamy oak flavors. Minty and super spicy and long on the finish, with a lasting dark toastiness. M.S. Wine Enthusiast. A Syrah wine from Mendoza in Argentina. 2010 Luca Syrah Laborde Double Select 750ml
