Luca Malbec 2009
This is a great example of Mendoza Malbec. Incredible color - could use it in an inkwell! Loads of spice and black cherry cola aromas with notes of cocoa. The berry flavors really pop on the palate as the wine has both good depth and very lively acidity that leads to an incredibly long finish. A bottom note of freshly brewed espresso keeps the mouth watering too. This one is a teenager at the moment, and should age very well (and not talk back when you don't give it the car keys!). Pairs well with foods such as venison or wild game, steak, pork, quail, all types of lamb, and medium-strong cheeses. A very flexible wine due to its concentration and balance.
Luca is a winery founded by Laura Catena (of the prestigious Argentinian winemaking family), named for her son, in Mendoza, Argentina. The focus is on small batch, artisanal quality wines that showcase the individual terroirs of Mendoza, produced at a state-of-the-art facility. Luis Reginato is principal winemaker. Luca produces Chardonnay, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Malbec and the Beso de Dante Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon blend.
Intense violet brigth color. On the nose some cristallized red fruit like plum and agras, very fruity wine. Some velvety tanins with the rigtha acidity, ligth body and again very fruity on the palate (it has 14 months on french new oak barrel). Some toffe on the after-taste. (Not my tipe of malbec). Deffinately will eat it with an Argentinian Style BBQ.

Dark and inky red from core to rim. Absolute blockbuster of a nose with deep cassis aromas pencil lead French vanilla blackberry liqueur and a hint of mocha. This is an absolutely pure expression of these noble Bordeaux varietals and this will more than please New World cabernet fans everywhere. Smooth and luscious on entry with a soft velvety mouthfeel this is a serious wine from old vines. Finishes fresh and long. I d say with a good decant this is in its prime drinking window now but should cellar well through 2022+. Cory Gowan.
Deep ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry, molten chocolate and mocha. Plush, ripe, chocolatey and sweet, in need of a bit more definition of flavor. A slightly heavy malbec but fat and long. Stephen Tanzers IWC. A Malbec wine from Mendoza in Argentina. 2009 Luca Malbec 750ml
Displays a fragrant perfume of lavender, wood smoke, spice box, black cherry, and blackberry leading to a smooth-textured, succulent, easygoing Malbec with a bit of hidden structure and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish.
