What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Winemakers Notes

I’m delighted by all the attention now being given to dry Rosés. With my first Rosé in 2001, it was sometimes a
challenge to even get people to try it because of the reputation of sweet pink wines! This year’s version is a touch
lighter in color than last years, but shorter skin contact has also meant more elegance and finesse yet retaining the
intensity of last year’s wine. I think it is the best rosé to date, resulting from better vineyard practices in 2007. Mostly
from the vineyard around the winery, again bottled with a screw cap to insure the quality and freshness of this wine.

Reviews

8 hours of maceration gives this wine its pale strawberry color and nice pink fruit flavors (melon and strawberry). Balanced acidity and a nice medium length finish.

Light fruit nose, strawberries mostly. Slightly tannic because of contact with the lees. Light bodied. The finish is medium length with some nice earthy, meaty syrah characteristics. Nice oak.
