Winemaker's Notes:

The 2004 Cristal Rose is 70% Pinot from Ay and 30% Chardonnay from Avize. winemaker's notes: Cristal Rosé 2004 is precise, racy and balanced. A pastel pink colour. Fine, light bubbles in a long-lasting flow. The bouquet is delicate and subtle, with elegant fruitiness (red fruits: strawberry, fig), zesty hints (citrus fruit: lemon and orange). In the mouth, the bite is young, springlike and energetic: full-bodied and silky, but based on very mineral freshness. This mineral quality is typical for Cristal Rosé, expressing the chalkiness and saltiness.

The distinctive qualities of each parcel are the result of great respect for nature. Louis Roederer’s philosophy is shared by Philippe Starck: both are engaged in a quest for authenticity.   The harvest from each parcel is pressed and vinified separately. Over the months, the wine is tasted and analysed by the oenologists; this provides them with an extensive aromatic palette that gives them a rich choice and enables them to develop blends under the watchful eye of the Cellar Master, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon. This quest for authenticity matches Philippe Starck’s desire to collaborate on the development of a unique, finely tuned, and authentic cuvée. They decided to draw inspiration from river wines to create a straightforward, medium-dry, terroir-based champagne. The 2004 Cristal Rose, from magnum, is less expressive than the Cristal. Today it is too soon to tell how much of that may be attributable to the larger format.
