Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

The grapes were harvested in the early morning to keep the fruit as cool as possible before being destemmed and sent directly to tank. The lots were cold soaked for two to three days until we warmed them up and began fermentation at temperatures ranging from 88°F to 90°F. The wine was pumped over up to three times per day. After daily lot tastings, we determined draining times, which left some Cabernet lots in fermentors for extended maceration. Each lot was evaluated separately as it aged, blended together and placed back into the original barrels to marry together until bottling. This wine was left unfined and aged in a combination of new and used French, American and Hungarian oak for 14 months.-Winemaker Notes

We believe that Cabernet Sauvignon is the most noble of grapes. We believe that great winemaking begins with great vineyards, and we want the land to speak through our wines. Our wines express the best characteristics of Cabernet, the personality of the special places where our grapes are grown, and the vision and skill of the winemaker in blending balanced, engaging, and memorable wines.

Alexander Valley, CaliforniaRobert Parker 97 points!!"The bigger, richer 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petite Sirah aged 16 months in 50% new French and American casks. This is a bigger wine and close to 2% higher in alcohol at 15.5%. There are 11,000 cases of this big, full-bodied, boisterous Cabernet Sauvignon that has a dense ruby/purple color, notes of underbrush, forest floor, tobacco leaf and oodles of blackcurrants and black cherries, with a touch of woodsmoke. The full-bodied wine hits the palate with a cascade of glycerin, fruit and purity. This is a beauty - dense, rich, and structured, but capable of lasting 20 or more years." -Robert ParkerFor more than 75 years, the Martini family winemakers have crafted world-class Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the exceptional vineyards of Sonoma and Napa counties. Louis M. Martini embodied a simple, honest premise: The best grapes make the best wines. Today, Michael Martini, third-generation winemaker carries on this tradition at the historic winery in Napa Valley with his range of unforgettable Cabernet Sauvignon wines.Enjoy Louis M Martin Cabernet Sauvignon with filet mignon, rack of lamb, venison, moussaka and aged cheeses.

One of the finest bargains in California Cabernet Sauvignon must be Louis M. Martini's outstanding 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma... Fabulously sweet aromas of black currants, licorice, and cedar soar from the glass of this medium to full-bodied wine. With silky tannins as well as surprising concentration, depth, and texture, this 2006 should drink well for 8-10 years. Now owned by the Gallo family, but still run by Michael Martini, the quality of these wines merits serious attention.
