Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley California Mountain 2008
90 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): [$30 list] The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a big wine and an absolutely fabulous value in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It bursts onto the palate with expressive dark fruit, sweet spices and licorice, showing marvelous depth all the way through to the creamy, generous finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. (Dec 2011) 90 points and 'Editors' Choice,' Wine Enthusiast.
We believe that Cabernet Sauvignon is the most noble of grapes. We believe that great winemaking begins with great vineyards, and we want the land to speak through our wines. Our wines express the best characteristics of Cabernet, the personality of the special places where our grapes are grown, and the vision and skill of the winemaker in blending balanced, engaging, and memorable wines.
Deep and austere black fruit flavors, cedar and spice, with toast and leather. Black licorice sweetness added to extracted black fruit and cocoa.
Beautiful nose, nicely integrated oak, needs time to open up (about 1/2 hour). Very smooth with a medium length finish, but not very complex. A nice cab at the $20.level.
