The principal premiers crus of Vosne-Romanee all lie in Vosne, and the finest of these, approaching grand cru level in quality, are generally considered to be Les Suchots, Les Malconsorts, Les Gaudichots and La Grande Rue. Following these are Clos des Reas, Aux Brulees, Les Chaumes, and Cros Parantoux in Vosne; Aux Beaux Monts, astride the border; and Les Rouges, in Flagey. Of the remaining vineyards, La Croix Rameau, Les Petits Monts and Aux Raignots lie in Vosne and En Orveaux lies in Flagey. Les Suchots consists of two contiguous parcels totalling 32 acres situated between Romanee Saint-Vivant read more...and Le Richebourg, on the south side, and Les Echezeaux, on the north side. Typically, Suchots combines the richness of Le Richebourg with the delicacy of Romanee Saint-Vivant. Maison Louis Jadot holds agreements with small growers in Les Suchots through which it produces a superb example of the appellation. Concentrated and velvety, yet with a restrained elegance and refinement, it marries ripe fruit and tannins to notes of exotic spices and oak, with a subtle, perfumed bouquet and extended, silky finish.
