What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

Winemakers Notes

The Louis Jadot Moulin à Vent is a full, robust Beaujolais, with a fleshy, almost fat texture and greater longevity than any other Cru of the Beaujolais. The exceptional quality of its structure preserves a fruitiness which becomes mellow with bottle age.

Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2007! A solidly structured, full-bodied, deep garnet wine which shows intense aromas of iris, roses, spices and ripe red fruit. The impressions on the palate are fleshy, velvety and tender, finishing with a firm acidic crispness. The wine approaches maturity in most vintages after six to ten years. Dark and smoky, with toast and vanilla notes leading the way for velvety-textured blackberry fruit followed by notes of cocoa, dark licorice and mineral on the finish. Drinks like a Vosne-Romanee. Drink now through 2009. Wine Spectator 91 Points

My bottle, like Philip's, was also corked, but a friend had some from an earlier bottle and approved.

I was concerned about my bottle after seeing several reviewers report they got a corked bottle. Luckily mine was fine. Beautiful fruit with a wonderful aroma. We all spent a lot of time with our noses in the glass. I found this for about $17 and at that price it is a terrific value.
