Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. One of my favorite Chardonnay. Buttery, fruity, smooth, just delicious with overtones of vanilla.

Medium red. Reticent aromas of redcurrant and flowers. Sweet and suave but youthfully unevolved owing to the late malolactic fermentation. Juicy nicely delineated flavors of raspberry and rose petal. Finishes with firm but sweet tannins and enticing lift. This holds out considerable promise. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

A toasty nose of red and black cherry spice earth and a hint of game merges into cool and pure middle weight flavors that display a subtle trace of minerality. There is a firm but not hard tannic spine shaping the delicious and moderately persistent finish that offers good if not truly special depth. Burghound.

Fresh green-tinged yellow. Aromas of mirabelle clove menthol and iodine. Highly concentrated vibrant flavors of yellow and white peach clove and noble herbs are a bit youthfully aggressive but very intense. This very pure wine is most impressive today on the rising very long finish. Needs a minimum of five or six years in the cellar and may well ultimately merit an even higher rating. 92+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.

A ripe and highly expressive nose of acacia blossom white peach and a pretty array of citrus aromas trimmed in enough wood toast to notice gives way to solidly rich and imposingly full-bodied flavors brimming with dry extract that confers a wonderfully textured indeed almost chewy mouth feel onto the palate coating yet markedly dry finish. This is extraordinary in its ability to deliver such impressive size and weight while retaining such fine precision. This is very B

Butter floral and spice aromas and rich peach and melon flavors come together with the creamy texture in this intense and opulent white. Harmonious and expressive but this will be even better in two to three years. Offers a lingering complex aftertaste where a mineral element emerges. Best from 2016 through 2027. From France.
