Louis Jadot Corton Pougets 2015

Member Review by VegasOenophile:

Fresh red berry fruit on the nose. Some mineral and earth, as well as lavender. Luscious berry filled palate of rich, ripe fruit. Good acid profile. Some light spice and herbal tones. Juicy, vibrant and rich, with lovely structure and good balance. Very nice! 3/8/12

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. easily the ripest version I've ever had- significant tannins, albeit ripe- we'll see in 10 years.

dark purple- no bricking. lovely nose with pepper, rich black fruits and violets. The palate is very interesting- great minerality, rich black fruit, but on the back end the fruit starts to have a tinge of rot, which increases its presence over time. starting to break down.

This is also quite lavishly wooded and while the oak doesn t completely overshadow the pretty and slightly fresher aromas of wild red currant stone and earth it s close. There is good detail and plenty of energy to the solidly intense middle weight flavors that are supported by tannins that are less refined than what I typically see with this wine all wrapped in a finish that offers a bit better depth and length than the Gr

Bright classic red pinot color. Lovely perfume to the aromas of sour red cherry raspberry rose petal spices and soil. Then tightly wound and penetrating even youthfully austere with firm acidity and saline minerality giving the wine a mouthwatering quality but keeping the fruit under wraps today. Finishes with a firm tannic spine insinuating red fruit and floral persistence and excellent grip. This needs several years of cellaring to unwind but has terrific potential. 92+ Stephen Ta

Medium red. Aromatic nose offers iron dried flowers and spicy oak. Sappy and dense yet light on its feet showing exhilarating minerality. A distinctly pretty version of Corton almost in the style of a Corton-Charlemagne. Most intriguing today on the dry long very suave finish which coats the teeth with dusty tannins and perfumes the mouth with minerals and white pepper. All in subtlety. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
