Louis Jadot Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Blanc Clos de la Chapelle Duc de Magenta 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

The Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru "Morgeot" Clos de la chapelle' is a very well balanced wine, showing us a lot of concentrated aromas of honey, white fruit and flowers. This wine is full bodied, powerful and rich. It should be kept for special meals like foie gras, fish in cream sauces, shellfish and white meats in rich sauces.

Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. A restrained and relatively cool yet ripe nose features notes of both white and yellow orchard fruit but the primary character is white. There is good intensity to the powerful large-scaled flavors that possess fine energy on the markedly dry linear and well-detailed finish. This is an unusually refined Morgeot though make no mistake there is a taut muscularity present that should aid in the aging curve here. 2018+ Burghound.

There is enough reduction present to all but completely mask what appears to be earthy yellow fruit underneath the funk. In contrast Jadot s 2010 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot Clos de La Chapelle from deeper soils on the back of the Abbaye de Morgeot possesses gorgeous depth but it is also tightly wound and inward. Cool saline notes dominate today but there is more than enough fruit to allow the 2010 to develop beautifully in bottle over the coming years. The huge textured finish leaves a lasting impression. It would be fascinating to taste both of the Jadot wines from the Abbaye de Morgeot in ten years time. Anticipated maturity: 2015+. --- Antonio Galloni Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.

Pale bright yellow. Lemon and a whiff of apple on the nose. Then concentrated and densely packed with harmonious acidity contributing to the impression of inner-mouth floral perfume. Finishes juicy and long with a firm edge that will require five years of cellaring. This displays the power and thrust of the vintage. 92+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.
