The indefatigable Jacques Lardière believes 99 is an excellent vintage with much to recommend it though he would be in the minority of vignerons that prefers 97 to 99. In fact, in the context of vintage comparisons chez Jadot, Jacques ranks 99 as the equal of 96 but below both 97 and 93. As in 97 and 98, Jacques says the typical 99 had a cuvaison of between 25 and 30 days though a few wines went as long as 36 days (these periods include 4 to 5 days of cold maceration).
