The Clos des Ursules is a 6.8-acre enclave purchased by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in 1826 which has remained a solely-owned property of the Jadot family ever since. It is the jewel of the Domaine des Hritiers Louis Jadot portfolio producing a wine of consistent excellence which for the characteristic delicacy and suppleness of Vignes Franches shows striking tannin and dimension. Full firm and rich in ripe-berry flavors its fine slightly earthy bouquet and long lush finish converge in a wine perfectly balancing elegance and power.

Winemaker's Notes:

Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. He quickly developed a reputation as a high quality producer and his aim was to build his reputation as a top quality winemaker in Burgundy. To achieve this aim he continued to purchase vineyards to add to the family's earlier purchase of Beaune Clos des Ursules and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles vineyards. His Grandson, who took over at the end of WWII continued to build Louis Jadot's Domaine holdings by acquiring Grand Cru vineyards in Corton Pougets and Corton Charlemagne. Beaune vineyards are the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, between Savigny to the North, and Pommard to the South. There are no Grands Crus vineyards in this commune, but there are 36 Premiers Crus. Beaune-Theurons is generally considered to be a quintessential Premier Cru, one of the dozen or so finest in the commune. The red wines from the central and southern parts are powerful, tannic, and deeply coloured while those from the northern area are generally less intensely coloured with softer fruit flavours. Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" is a full, firm and rich wine. It is fine, with a slightly earthy bouquet and long, lush finish, converge in a wine which perfectly balances elegance and power. It works harmoniously with delicate meat dishes or cold meat platters, as well as both mild and strong cheeses or rich chocolate desserts.
