What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

Reviews

A very simple but well rounded Beaujolais, a lot of berries off the nose and has a nice easy soft flavor when it hits the palate. A great house wine to have on a cold winters night!

Great, simple wine for everyday drinking that won't break your bank. Works especially well with red meats. Let it breathe to really open up the flavors.

Perfectly ok budget beaujolais. Lacks the silkiness of texture that can make these wines so nice to drink. Cherry in color, and pronounced cherry and red raspberry jam on the palate. These wines are not typical reds, but analogous to rose wines in many respects--chill it slightly, serve with simple fare, good for summer bbqs.

Intensely fragrant and crisp, Beaujolais-Villages Jadot is a vivacious, succulent wine of exceptional charm full of bright, floral fruit flavors underscored by youthful, peppery notes and plump tannins. Delicious slightly chilled, its lively freshness is best appreciated when young. To enhance the quality of the wine, Jadot also practices a réplis, whereby wines from various crus of Beaujolais are declassified and added to the blend, constituting up to forty percent of the final cuvée in some vintages. Though costly, this measure yields a wine of superior structure, depth and complexity.

Fell apart fairly quickly in the mouth, some fruit but nothing overwhelming. Fine as a sipping wine.

Still a very nice QPR, falls quickly apart... Worth buying again as a house red.
