Lot 64 California 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes: Black wine with red rim. Purple fruit and strong aromas of pepper and spice from the Tempranillo that makes up a large portion of the wine. The Tempranillo adds structure and fine tannins on the palate and frames the jammy blackberry fruit from the Grenache. The wine finishes long and smooth with roasted coffee and vanilla oak notes. Cameron Confidential: Remember Lot 1 Syrah from Lodi? This wine is from the same winemaker, but you will recall he had moved his operation to Napa (where he sources from there and Lake County—our Lot 63 Lake County Syrah is from him as well). This wine is a blend of left-over barrel lots from a variety of his different projects, all retailing from $32 to $48. Be sure to check out Lot 63 as well.

Lot 64, another high-end blend of Tempranillo, Carignane, Grenache, Cab and a little Petite Verdot to add structure to this this big wine and low $. Better buy what's left at Costco. Otherwise it's sold out. Pepper/spicey nose, fruit forward, smooth tannins, coffee and vanilla finishes this delicious wine. Pair with grilled lamb chops or manchego cheese plate with olives and grilled artichokes.
