Lot 237 la Herradura Vineyard Napa Valley Syrah 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes: Bold deep crimson red with a matching rim. Bold on the nose this wine offers up notes of bacon fat, blackberries, and cherries. The palate fruit is layered with wood smoke and lavender. The wine’s complexity continues with pure fruit, sweet tannin, and a glorious finish. Cameron Confidential: This wine comes from the same vineyard where we began sourcing Hughes-Wellman Cabernet many years ago. While officially located in the St. Helena appellation, La Herradura vineyard is located on the lower slopes of Howell Mountain in the Conn Valley. Winemaker Sam developed this vineyard with a cote-rotie style program in mind (don’t ask where the budwood came from) and the syrah vines are planted in seriously poor soils amidst 25% hillside slopes. The resulting fruit is loosely clustered, highly concentrated with small berries and thick skins. Aged in 40% new French Oak cooperage for 20 months the resulting wine is incredibly rich and mouthfilling and highly aromatic showing bacon fat, blackberry and cherry layered with wood smoke and lavender. Simply glorious wine and a screaming deal at $15 a bottle. Booyah. Again, trust me on this one. If you like big, rich, mouthwateringly delicious syrah’s then this is your wine. There are only 400 cases and they simply will not last.
