Lot 186 Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Notes: This Chardonnay displays fruit-forward citrus aromas, with hints of mineral and honeysuckle. This wine is richly textured and made in an elegant style. The nose is sparkling and crisp with citrus notes, yellow apple skins and hints of granite dust (an indicator of terrific minerality) and pears. The palate is just as clean and pure with mouthwatering acidity, great length and tremendous “nerve”. Cameron Confidential: One of our winery partners came to us in 2009 with a proposal. Next year they would be ripping out some old vine (40 years) chardonnay from their Santa Maria vineyard as it had become so low yielding it was no longer profitable – would we like to take the last vintage? Absolutely. This is an iconic vineyard, perhaps the finest vineyard in the Santa Maria area of Santa Barbara County, the owners known the world over as early pioneers of cool climate viticulture. When it comes to sophisticated and age-worthy Chardonnay, this vineyard ranks amongst the best. The wines were made for us by the owners of the vineyard at their winery not far from the vineyard itself. Typical retails for the many brands that make Chardonnay from this vineyard are $25-$50.
