Meaty and slightly herbal nose with a good bit of cherry thrown in is funky and inviting. The wine is fresh and quite acidic, with burnt tar and leather, dark cocoa and even a bit of raspberry.
Dark purple color - almost inky. Royal rustic fruit on the nose. Bright sweet round raspberry, black cherries, and a touch of green pepper. Bright acidity and a slightly gamey complex finish. This is some great wine!
Lot's of dark fruit flavors and pepper. The color is a deep purple. Good balance of tannins...good wine
totally opaque inky purple. surprisingly medium bodied, silky tannins. bright acidity. fresh blackberry, archetypal grenache leather/hot spice, and preserved plums. grenache is not my favorite varietal ever, but I'd definitely drink this again at the price.
Winemaker's Notes:
Notes: Bold, with spicy, peppery fruit, big structure, and meaty, leathery notes, this wine has fantastic personality and outstanding cellar potential. Winemaker Sam was noted to have said this wine was as good as, if not better, than most $60 Chateauneuf du Pape’s he has tasted. We have only 150 cases of this wine so grab it today and, if possible, decant for a good hour before drinking. Cameron Confidential: We have been doing business with our friends in Campo de Borja in Spain for a couple of years now starting with Lot 37 Rose and most recently with Lot 98 GSM and our Flying Winemaker Tempranillo (which is drinking fabulously right now). Last year they sent us a sample of their reserve wine (which blew us away) and then offered to bottle up the 2007 reserva’s for us. Now, marketing a $20 garnacha (AKA Grenache, the signature grape of Campo de Borja) is not a task taken lightly, especially when the stuff is at the upper end of our price spectrum, but this wine was so good we had to pull the trigger. We bought two small Lots, the first of which is Lot 128 2007 Campo de Borja Garnacha.
